Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have come under escalating strikes in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were wounded while local people in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and dealt with problems to drinking water, per reports from city officials.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has intensified strikes on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "real steps" from partner nations to exert influence on Moscow.

"The necessity is not window dressing but strong steps - from the America, European nations and the G7 - in providing defensive weapons and applying penalties," he wrote in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen projectiles attacked the country's power systems, labeling such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were working to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles struck energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Multiple people hurt in the assaults on the city have been taken to hospital, per statements from city authorities.

Officials stated energy workers and government agencies were bracing for further attacks.
